ABOUT ME
Eighteen years of experience designing and supporting learning shape how I approach performance today. I start with what people need to do on the job, then combine analysis, thoughtful design, testing, accessibility, and purposeful use of technology to create learning that is clear, useful, and grounded in human judgment.

In their words
Josh blends an exceptional understanding of how people learn with a just as exceptional feel for immersive learning experience design. His work truly focuses on helping learners achieve specific goals, approaching any learning need with thought for the ideal format. His work incorporates minute details of visual design so effortlessly that the learner likely doesn't perceive it but can feel that it just works. Further, Josh is an effective collaborator, accepting constructive feedback and pushing back gently with the intent of learning more about the feedback to enhance the work. Josh is just an incredibly pleasant person to work with. His positive attitude is infectious and inspiring, and I frequently left every interaction with him with an improved attitude myself.
Joshua has a real talent for visual storytelling and creating learning experiences that feel like a world learners can actually step into. His strong visual design skills help make every detail feel intentional, but what stands out just as much is how thoughtful he is about the learning itself. He uses learning theory to back his decisions and makes sure the experience is doing more than just looking good. I also really appreciate how thoughtfully he explores emerging tools and finds meaningful ways to use them to strengthen and bring the learning experience to life. That combination of creativity, curiosity, and thoughtful instructional design really comes through in his work.
Josh is one of the most well-rounded instructional designers I've worked with. He leads with generosity, not ego. He brings together strong project management, a genuine creative eye, and a deep understanding of UI/UX principles. What really sets him apart is how intentional he is about accessibility. He doesn't treat it as a checklist item added at the end, he builds it in from the very start of a project. That kind of care means his work is genuinely usable for every learner, not just the ones design tools default to. He also isn't afraid to test his work, gather honest feedback, and revise it based on what he learns. He remains a true lifelong learner, always curious, always growing, and thoughtful about how he uses new tools like AI to enhance his work without ever letting it replace his own judgment and design expertise.
Joshua is a guiding force on any team he joins. He's genuinely committed to helping others succeed, consistently making himself available to offer support and constructive feedback. Any instructional design team would be lucky to have him.
